With Carrara having byes in A and B Grade, it was up to the D Grade team to lead the way for the Club outside of the two Open teams.
D GRADE | Carrara (6)
Up against second-placed Nerang (11), it was always going to be a tough job for bottom-placed Carrara at home. Despite securing just two wins, Carrara has been competitive against the top teams in the competition and pushing them in most matches.
The ability to push the opposition was evident on Thursday night as Carrara took a game off each Nerang player.
Andrew Baxter started well for Carrara against Maxwell Tait, taking the opening game 15-11. Maxwell regained his confidence to close out the contest in four.
Stuart Taylor dropped the opening game against Maxwell Tait 15-8 but he worked into his groove by taking the second game and powering away to an impressive four-set win.
Fresh off a challenging doubles campaign at Carrara over the weekend, Darcey Baptiste stepped up her game against Andrew Hope. After going down in the first two games, Darcey edged ahead to just take out the third; before taking out the fourth and forcing a decider. Andrew responded in the fifth to win a tight battle 15-11 and secure the victory.
Hayan Kim had a tough battle on her hands against Cliff Mahar. After dropping the first two games, Hayan celebrated the best game of the match by winning the third 15-8. Her opponent responded strongly in the fourth to take out the contest 3-1.
